Tinting a car window - what are the advantages?

Safety and comfort when driving are becoming more and more important. In addition to the countless electronic assistants and other safety features that the car industry has offered us in recent years, some of which are only available as additional packages for which a fee is charged, car windows are still capable of improvement.

A car tinting film as a design element is probably better known than the fact that a "simple" tinted film can do much more than just change the appearance of the vehicle by tinting the windows.

Obviously, it protects the driver's view into the vehicle interior, which decreases with increasing tinting level. What is probably less well known is that a tinted film on the glass pane, in contrast to a naked, factory-tinted glass pane, protects the occupants and the interior from UV radiation from the sun's energy and also provides heat protection. Not to be forgotten is the energy saving due to the reduced heat input into the vehicle interior through the tinting of the windows, as the air conditioning system has to work less here.

Probably very few people think of the safety aspect when installing film first. In the event of an accident, a tinting film protects the passengers from flying glass fragments, which are held together by the film after a breakage.

Please note that in Germany it is generally not permitted to film the front side windows or the windscreen! Therefore, these windows can only be seen in the simulator in their original state.

Car tinting films are not only for the visual design of the vehicle - also equip your car windows with safety and comfort!

The trend of tinted car windows has been widespread in the tuning scene for decades. However, only very few car owners know what added value a car tinting film brings in everyday life. Car tinting film, tinting film, filming a rear window of a car

A car window tinted with sun protection film, for example, keeps the glass splinters together in the door frame in the event of a side impact and thus protects the passengers from injuries caused by flying splinters. The technical advantages of tinting films should also be mentioned. Harmful UV rays and infrared rays can be reduced to a minimum. At the same time, car tinting film protects the interior of your vehicle from colour fading. Plastics are also protected from material fatigue and brittleness by the tinting film.

Tinting film vs. factory tinting

Due to the aspects of splinter protection and almost complete radiation protection, a tinting film is generally preferable to factory tinting. Of course, it is also possible to apply an additional tinting film to an existing factory tint. In this case, however, the degree of tinting of the window film must be taken into account, as this is increased by the windows already being tinted at the factory. If only the sun protection for the rear passengers is to be increased or guaranteed, only the side windows can be provided with sun protection film. The rear window remains unprotected - untinted or retains only the factory tint. Car tinting film, tinted film

Likewise, filming with tinting film offers a plus for your privacy, by shielding you from unwanted glances into the vehicle interior with sun protection film. The tinting film prevents the glare of sunlight on the occupants and gives your car an individual appearance.

In Germany, it is stipulated that the windscreen as well as the driver's and passenger's windows of a motor vehicle may not be tinted. For the rear window and the rear side windows, only a tinting film for motor vehicles certified by the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) is permitted for interior installation.

Tested safety

As a manufacturer, we have already had this test certification carried out for our vehicle tinting films offered on the German market. The test certificate issued by the KBA as part of the certification process for our tinting films serves as proof of the general type approval (ABG) in the event of an inspection by the TÜV or a traffic control by the police.

Glare strips made of tinting film for the windscreen

In order to reduce the glare of the vehicle driver, it is possible to attach a glare strip made of window film to the windscreen. It should be noted here that the glare strip only covers the top tenth of the windscreen. Newer cars have a marking on the windscreen that indicates the maximum height of the glare strip.

Protection & safety even without tinting film

To equip your vehicle with all the benefits of a tinting film without tinting the window, you can use the clear, ABG-certified UV-Protect Clear Shield. This offers the advantages of a UV protection film, shatter protection film, anti-glare film and protection against infrared radiation with 90% visible light transmission and bleach protection is also achieved through the installation of car tint films.

Arrive relaxed at your destination - heat protection with car tinting film

Another positive aspect of windscreen filming is that a high-quality tinting film significantly reduces the heating of the vehicle interior due to solar radiation and thus increases the overall feeling of well-being while driving. Due to the improved thermal protection and cold protection, less use of the air conditioning system or, in winter, the heating system is required, which in turn has a positive effect on consumption costs - because you also benefit from the effect of the tinting film in winter - a window film reduces heat loss by up to 30%.

Here you can take a look at the different tinting levels for car tinting films. Do you want it to be completely dark or do you prefer it a little lighter - even the lighter films offer UV protection, this is independent of the light transmission. A darker film simply offers more privacy from the outside in addition to sun protection.
